I created this song with a man I've never met. His name is Derrick, and he goes my the name, TALLL. He hit me up on Instagram one day and asked if I'd like to try to create something together. Of course, I was down. He sent me a couple tracks and we traded audio back and forth until we had a finished song. I’m not sure what kind of electronic genre 'Queen' would fall into... I picture seeing it on a playlist titled something like: ‘Future Bass’, or ‘Electro Chill’, or ‘Majestic Casual’.
The lyrics are about being a diamond. Diamonds start as normal carbon atoms at least 100 miles below Earth’s surface. It’s the only place the temperature and pressure are great enough for carbon to bond and completely change it’s atomic structure to become one of the hardest materials on Earth. THEN, it has to get blown to the surface via a volcanic eruption before it can be used to cut industrial material or adorn our jewelry. We value them for their strength and beauty, but they’d have neither if they didn’t go through billions of years of intense modification before we even get to look for them. The high regard we assign them doesn’t give them value or make them unbreakable. The process did.
I hope y'all enjoy our work as much as we enjoyed working. Please save the new songs to your Spotify libraries/playlists. It helps push us through the Spotify algorithm so we're heard by more listeners! Also, give us some love on your Insta-stories and tag us so we can share! Make us the soundtrack to your next social media masterpiece.
Lyrics
I’m all the way up out the deep
I didn’t come from the concrete, I was blown out of the hottest of heat.
This crown did not make me a queen, a crown does not make me a queen.
All the way up out the deep,
I didn’t come from the concrete, I was blown out of the hottest of heat
This crown did not make me a queen, a crown did not make me a queen.
D-I-A-M-O-N-D, I didn’t come from the concrete
D-I-A-M-O-N-D, a crown did not make me a queen
